But I'm going to the coast on the weekend, and it's my Birthday on Monday, so there's lots to look forward to! Hopefully I'll get some good photos ops at the coast, it's been pretty cloudy here recently which is so not conducive to taking photos for le blog, in my opinion. Plus I have a very special new pink one piece to share with you!

After watching The Iron Lady yesterday, I was reminded of the whole "women need to dress and act like men to succeed in business" argument, but I find it pathetic that women should have to change the way they look and act in order to be respected in the workplace! Screw that! We can be hard-working and smart and carry a silver clutch too. Let's prove it ladies.

And for the record, I also think it's ridiculous that business men are expected to wear ties and jackets in Summer. Society is so cukoo sometimes.

The top 3 reasons why Zara is the bomb

So Australia has gone a little crazy over Zara, since the first store landed in Sydney last year. I mean, I visited the store months after it had opened and they was still a ten metre long line to get in!

Now, a lot of my friends were a little disappointed with Dolce and GaZara (as Victoria Beckham would put it), but since I picked up a well-loved winter coat there last year I knew I had to visit the new Melbourne store while I was down for New Years.

I came out with six basic items that I know I'll get a lot of wear out of. But my raving about Zara doesn't end there, no siree. Putting the quality/price/cuteness of the clothes aside, here are my top 3 reasons to luuurve Zara:

1. They have mirrors everywhere in the store, meaning you can try on jackets and stuff without having to go to the change rooms. And everyone knows you can tell how good something is going to look just by holding it up to your body and checking out your reflection, der.

2. You are allowed to take 10 items into the change rooms! Normally it's like 5-6 and if you have more you have to leave some with the salesgirl who always manages to forget about you and lose your extra items.

3. The lighting in the change rooms is actually flattering! Strip lights all around the mirrors, not just that hideous down-lighting. YES I want to look good when I try something on and YES that makes me want to buy it. NO I don't want to look like a fat cow and I do not want to buy your clothes when I feel disgusting when I try them on. SHEESH. The percentage of stores that do not realise this continues to astound me.

Do you agree with my Zara love? Or do you think Zara is over-rated?

This was only actually for the picnic portion of the night, there was a whole 'nother outfit after that, with more hot pink and an extra 6 inches of height. For the first time in over a year, I have 3 weeks off from work. Sleeping in a hammock and watching back to back episodes of the OC seems like a suitable way to spend my time.

Next week I'll be cruising down to Melbourne to take a look at the new Topshop and semi-new Zara, which I'm appropriately psyched for!

I've also been working on the issues with my Picasa images and am trying to get Blogger to revert the changes they've made, otherwise it's gonna be one hell of a manual task to fix all of the images on my blog :(

Inspired by this, this and this (and repelled by this) I knew that it was time for a change, in the form of a messy long bob. My hair was so damaged from bleach and heat styling that it really needed some help, and it's fun to feel all city chic sometimes. The whole thing feels a lot cleaner, and I'm loving it.

Let's face it: I loathe extensions (but I still love you Miley). The whole long insanely long hair thing can definitely be pretty magical, but only if your hair's real and in decent nick.

I'm not usually a huge fan of printed tees but this one is perfect for me. I'm always drawn to bright blues, and the tropical theme really caps it off for me. Also the sleeves are slightly longer than usual, and more slim fitting, which is important to me as it balances my broad shoulders somewhat. Vintage tees are also so super-soft that I find myself thinking I could wear variations on this outfit all Summer long. It was comfy enough to go adventuring out at the Cotter river last weekend. If you don't know what adventuring is, it's like hiking but you sort of stay off the trail and you have to climb over at least one tree trunk which has fallen over a body of water. That part is key. My legs are now totally devestated with scratches and also I manged to get stung by some evil plant (like poison ivy I guess?). Totally worth it.

Let's make work fun! Victoria Beckham taught me that you should always wear incredible shoes to meetings, so when you get bored you can just look down and remember how fabulous you are. The colour of this top is just so gorgeous that I knew straight away it would become a new work office staple. Plus it's just thick-strapped and high-necked enough to be appropriate (in my line of work as a marketer anyways) for the ol' day job. Add this (gem of an op shop find) furry clutch and you have the makings of a whole day full of much more interesting meetings.

Lord only knows how long I have been looking to replace my favourite denim shorts, which have devestatingly ripped to the point where my underwear actually covers more ass than they do. This still makes me want to cry but a time comes when we must get on with out lives and *sigh* force ourselves to look for alternatives. Which I have been doing for like the past 6 months to no avail. Finally I found this Mink Pink pair in Globalize last Friday night and I have to say it seems like the start of a long and respectful realationship. I love that they encase the thighs so loosely and that they make up for the lack of visible ass cheek with the threadbare peek-a-boo action going on up front.

I've been having a real craving recently to live in denim shorts and sneakers. Normally I think heels make any outfit look better, but I'm starting to think there is real magic in just being comfortable (in every sense of the word) in what you wear. Throwing together a handful of neutral-ish pieces with maybe just one statement accessory is so it. With the exception of the yellow clutch, I know I would wear all of the above items in different combinations every single weekend. You could exchange the clutch for a massive orange scarf, a silver knuckle ring or a wrist full of friendship bracelets. Even the way you tuck your shirt in can be enough to make an outfit feel unique and personal without having to sacrifice comfort or your hard-earned cashola. The point is, you could wear these exact same things over and over and reinvent them with small additions.

Do you have a magical neutral or basic item that you wear all the time, but never get sick of? One that goes with everything and always makes you look good? What is it?

I've been wanting to take photos in the fog all Winter, but I never got around to it until this week. It wasn't even that good of a fog, but the good fog only comes out really early, and it's basically impossible to predict. Anywho, I wore this thoroughly 90s homage of an outfit to work yesterday. I even sported maroon nails, which I know is totally normal but I've just never really gotten into it. I'm a complete convert now but. The nude heels were on sale at Target, and I'm just so into the way they make your legs go on forever. Need more nude heels!

My baggy sweater addiction won't seem to go away! You may have noticed that I sneakily aquired the Sportsgirl sweater that I had vowed to wait a while to buy (I'm wearing it in the vlog below). But I got it in a flash online sale! It's ok. It's totally fine.

Anyway, I digress. This shaggy sweater is another new addition, I love the short front and long back, and the close-fitting sleeves versus the wide body. Worn here with my vintage aqua shorts found in New York and only recently taken-up.

Sportsgirl utility strap watch, airy mesh sweater (in mint), Shia wedge animal print boot, Nail It in Rollergirl, Melinda lace short, Lena sling bag, Art Factory sunglasses, finger ring.

I bought the Shia wedge animal print boots on sale a few weeks back and now they're even cheaper! Hot tip: never buy anything for full price at Sportsgirl, it will be about one third of the price in a month's time. It's worth the wait! I think the next thing on my list is the airy mesh sweater, but I spose I should take my own advice and wait until the price comes down. I'll try to resist until then ;-)

Burberry Spring 2010.....ish

You can't see any of the detail on this skirt, but it's very Burberry Spring 2010-esque. I love the knotting and draping, but it makes it kind of awkward to wear with anything untucked, unless it's an industrial-strength insulator like this sweater. The bulkiness covers all the bumps up nicely. I have a feeling the skirt will be easier to work in the Summer with flimsy tanks or tees tucked in.

Topshop Love platforms and Walberg blue suede platform wedges

I may need to start hoarding Topshop heels. They are just way too beautiful. The choice of colours that are blocked on the Love pair make me crazy, and of course the electric blue of the Walbergs is a given. I feel that I've amassed an adequate selection of black footwear, and it's really time to branch out into Summer brights. I know we're still in the middle of Winter but it's just more fun to be in denial.

Inspired by this post by Shin of Fashion Cappuccino, I set about combining aqua and royal blue, both of which are fashion favourtites of mine. Despite the fact that I have multiple items in these exact colours, I have somehow failed to think of combining them. It's definitely fun to try the colour blocking trend, and I'm not sure why I don't do it more often (maybe beacause it's kind of hard to pull off crazy-bright bottoms...). I definitely had fun and I'm now keen to take a look in my closet to see what new combinations I can think up.

By Jessica Simpson. My favourite heels. I am now at the point where any platform that's not as high as this is unacceptable. The perfectly smooth and rounded wooden heel is glorious, and the T-bar strap rocks my delicate Aquarian ankles. Aqaurians are supposed to have killer ankles, ok? They go with everything, and they are steeper than the Jeffery Campbell version and therefore awesome.

Spent waaaaaaaay too much money this long weekend on skinny leg office pants, three new over-sized sweaters and two new pairs of Wittner heels. Actually one is heel with a rad leather bootie, heel cut-out and Velcro strap, and the other is a mega black platform wedge with elastic straps. Both are killer and both will be getting a good workout this week.

This thrifted sweater is snuggly and adorable and therefore my new favourite. I wore it last night with my trackies, then out to dinner in the above ensemble and then to work today. I must admit I become thoroughly obsessed by certain items and wear them constantly for a few days/weeks/years (as in the case of my ill fated perfect denim cut-offs). I have a several closets full of clothes and shoes, and yet if you looked at all the outfits I wore you would probably think I was some kind of hobo who only had enough money for a couple of different items. Do you guys do this too?

I've been collecting a lot of inspiration lately and have been debating whether or not to share it on the blog. Generally I like to think of my blog purely as a personal style one, so in theory I probably shouldn't be posting this.

I actually started out posting whatever I felt like, but as time went on I began to think that it was better to be little more selective and consistent. I tend to think maybe it's a little self-centred to post about every thought I have and expect people to be interested, and I also thought it brought more value to post purely original content. I mean, who wants to see stuff that has already been published elsewhere?

Actually, a lot of people if I'm honest.

I suppose it's kind of like vintage shopping: people will pay a premium to have someone else go to a thrift store, rummage through all the junk and bring them only the best pieces (not me, I love rummaging).

I’m starting to think it’s the same on the Internet, where it’s quite nice to have someone else go looking for pretty things for you to peruse in your leisure time. In fact, I’d like to make a shout out to Shin from Fashion Cappuccino and Cindy from Cindy Whitehead, whose blogs both showcase amazing content that I am always keen to soak up.

Admittedly the blogs I like the most are the ones that are the most consistent (and good quality of course), not necessarily the ones that are teeming with original content.

So, I’ve decided to share some of my inspirational material with you. I hope you won’t think me unoriginal.

Finally posting my fur coat, wooot! Took these after heading to the Bondi Markets where I picked up the ring I'm wearing and some high-waisted powder blue jeans that I'm not sure I'll ever have the inclination to wear. I gave in to the urge to wear sneakers while in Sydney, spurred on by Katy Perry's notion of a teenage dream. It does kind of look cute with a dress or shorts. I love the kind of weather that allows for solid upper layers and bare legs, did I mention I'm dreading the weather descending further into the nether regions of the "below zeros"? Brrrrrrrrr.
