Having lunch barefoot, I should really do this more often.

How to make work fun

(Jay Jays singlet, thrifted skirt and fur clutch, Valleygirl sunglasses)

Let's make work fun! Victoria Beckham taught me that you should always wear incredible shoes to meetings, so when you get bored you can just look down and remember how fabulous you are. The colour of this top is just so gorgeous that I knew straight away it would become a new work office staple. Plus it's just thick-strapped and high-necked enough to be appropriate (in my line of work as a marketer anyways) for the ol' day job. Add this (gem of an op shop find) furry clutch and you have the makings of a whole day full of much more interesting meetings.

What do you do to prettify your office ensembles?

new old denim

(Jay Jays sheer floral singlet, Mink Pink distressed denim shorts)

Lord only knows how long I have been looking to replace my favourite denim shorts, which have devestatingly ripped to the point where my underwear actually covers more ass than they do. This still makes me want to cry but a time comes when we must get on with out lives and *sigh* force ourselves to look for alternatives. Which I have been doing for like the past 6 months to no avail. Finally I found this Mink Pink pair in Globalize last Friday night and I have to say it seems like the start of a long and respectful realationship. I love that they encase the thighs so loosely and that they make up for the lack of visible ass cheek with the threadbare peek-a-boo action going on up front.

it's ok

(thrifted pink sweater, skirt and satchel, Valleygirl sunglasses)

I believe that it's ok to wear a short skirt to work if you frump it up on top*.

*Disclaimer: Not recommended if you're a lawyer. You should wear a black suit. Then the next day, you could mix it up and wear a completely different black suit.

comfort

Preen Line Silky Silk Back Sweater, Vans authentic canvas lace-up sneakers, ASOS Envelope Laptop Case in Faux Croc Effect, Bleach Wash 10" Denim Shorts, and Ray-Ban Black Wayfarer Sunglasses

I've been having a real craving recently to live in denim shorts and sneakers. Normally I think heels make any outfit look better, but I'm starting to think there is real magic in just being comfortable (in every sense of the word) in what you wear. Throwing together a handful of neutral-ish pieces with maybe just one statement accessory is so it. With the exception of the yellow clutch, I know I would wear all of the above items in different combinations every single weekend. You could exchange the clutch for a massive orange scarf, a silver knuckle ring or a wrist full of friendship bracelets. Even the way you tuck your shirt in can be enough to make an outfit feel unique and personal without having to sacrifice comfort or your hard-earned cashola. The point is, you could wear these exact same things over and over and reinvent them with small additions.

Do you have a magical neutral or basic item that you wear all the time, but never get sick of? One that goes with everything and always makes you look good? What is it?

theatrics

(Target baggy sweater, Valleygirl sunglasses)

Wearing all black with red heels today, pretending that I'm an actoooor. Loving that this sweater effortlessly falls off the shoulder, and that it keeps itself flattering with a deep v-neck. Coupled with something short for bottoms, it's gotta be my all time favourite silhouette.

electric blue

(Dotti sheer dress, thrifted satchel, Sportsgirl ferret tail thing and Valleygirl sunglasses)

Was so not warm enough for this on Friday, but my jumper was blue and I didn't want to be lost in the wall.

blend

(thrifted shirt and satchel, Cue skirt, Style Tread heels and Valleygirl sunnies)

Wearing these heels in for the first time at work today. I love that the electric blue begs to be colour blocked, don't love that they're not quite high enough to be really obsessive over, and that they sound like thongs (ie. flip flops - Australians call them thongs. The other thing is a g-string) when I walk. Call me crazy but it's important to me that my shoes make the appropriate sound.

slouch

(Kmart slouchy tee, rings from Bondi Markets, coin necklace from UCSB markets and thrifted bird necklace)

A very casual work outfit today, I'm glad I work in marketing where anything goes.

In other news, I've made it a whole week without any significant carbs on the South Beach diet. One more week and I can start adding them back in *woot*. However, I'm starting to think I might prefer to do more of a natural diet than avoiding all carbs. I can't say that this diet has made me feel super-amazing or anything. Has anyone tried going organic, vegetarian, or vegan? Any tips for me?
