(Valley Girl cut-out tee, thrifted shorts, Sportsgirl ferret key chain thing, leopard mask from my costume box)
A huge part of Australia day for a lot of us is the Triple J hottest 100 countdown, the biggest musical poll in the world. It was extra fitting that this year Aussie duo Angus and Julia Stone took out the number one spot with their mellow tune, Big Jet Plane. I had a killer time listening to the whole countdown, eating sausages in bread and lamingtons, and intermittently jumping into the lake because it was a face-meltingly hot 37 degrees C. I hope all my Aussie blog friends had a similarly relaxed day.

(Just Jeans tank, thrifted denim cut-offs and Urban Outfitters sunnies)
It's too hot to really put much effort into dressing at the moment, as finally Summer is no longer devoid of actual heat. This is my favourite time of year: somehow, being in a constant state of slight stickiness is actually kind of favourable to me. Accordingly, I matched my pastel locks to this silken watercolour thing that barely has any weight to it, and my trusty cut-offs which are perpetually on my floor ready to be stepped into virtually every morning. For those who were asking, my new "blue" hair has actually turned out basically the same as the aqua, so you may have to wait for the pink and purple in the works to see a discernible difference.

Running short on time this morning I threw on the most basic of outfits, inspired simply by shape and the silky texture of the shirt. To counter the streamlined effect of the black skinny legs with my new Aldo heels (on sale for 50 bucks - SCORE!), I tucked the shirt at the front to create a "nice" tent effect. I'm sure Trinny and Susanah would massively dissaprove. But at least the bottom half is slimming. Wearing pants just makes me feel so... competent.

From Ashley Olsen to Lady Gaga to Katy Perry. In The Fifth Element and Grease, on 14 year old anime characters and Harajuku girls. On the runway for Chanel and on hipsters and bloggers the world over. My 2011 started with a pastel pop of aqua, pink and yellow, and here was my inspiration hair candy.
